Frequently Asked Questions
I have had many people email or call to tell me they would like a Melodyhill or Neu-Castle Rottweiler, but they are not sure how to go about it. The links below are answers to my most frequently asked questions. If you have further questions that are not addressed here, please call me at 707-255-7109 or EMAIL, and I will reply in a timely manner.

How do I get a Melodyhill or Neu Castle Rottweiler?
If you are interested in acquiring a puppy just send me an EMAIL or give me a call at 707-255-7109, and I will add your email address to my UPDATES list. You will then receive our email notice with updates on breedings and upcoming litters. I require that all of our puppies go to homes where they will be well loved and made a member of the family. I also recommend that you have a fenced yard, and a pen for your puppy when they are not able to be under supervision. The best friend (besides you!) that a dog can have is a sturdy fence and/or pen.

How much is the deposit?
The deposit is $500.00. The deposit may be made by cash, cashier’s check, or money order.
If you place a deposit for a puppy, and change your mind, the deposit is NON-REFUNDABLE. The only exception to this is if you have placed a deposit on a puppy that has not materialized, or if the litter is 2 or less and a puppy is not available. Your deposit will then be fully refunded or moved to the next available litter of your choice. If you reserve a puppy and change your mind, the deposit is non refundable.
If you are a renter, PLEASE check with your landlord before you send a deposit. I cannot refund deposits because a landlord has said “ No Pets” “No Dogs” or “No Rottweilers”. If you do not check with your landlord first, you will lose your deposit.
Your deposit should be received within 5 days from the time you have made arrangements to send it, after the 5 days, if the deposit is not received, the puppy will again be available for purchase.

Do you have any puppy tips?
Be sure not to take your new puppy anywhere ( except to the vet’s) until it is at least 4 months old. Rottweilers are very susceptible to the Parvo Virus. Parvovirus is a viral disease of dogs. It affects puppies much more frequently than it affects adult dogs. The virus likes to grow in rapidly dividing cells. The intestinal lining has the biggest concentration of rapidly dividing cells in a puppy's body. The virus attacks and kills these cells, causing diarrhea (often bloody), depression and suppression of white blood cells -- which come from another group of rapidly dividing cells. In very young puppies it can infect the heart muscle and lead to "sudden" death. Carry your puppy whenever possible and do not let it come in contact with places other dogs have been or touched.
Your puppy must be vaccinated for the Parvo virus every three to four weeks up to 4 months old, and a final one after 5 months. Your dog will then need to be vaccinated every year after.
It is also recommended that you do a preliminary x-ray of your dog’s hips without anesthetic at one year old, especially if you are interested in breeding or showing. It is considered unethical to breed a dog until it is 2 years old, and it should be OFA’d and free of any faults that may disqualify it.
It is also recommended that you do not let your puppy jump from or to high areas, like truck beds, high decks- and also not to let it run on hard surfaces like concrete or asphalt. This will protect your puppies elbow and hip joints from injury and deterioration. Once your dog is mature and has passed OFA, the bone structure is more solid and therefore activity can be increased.
Be sure to purchase a good kennel for your puppy, so they have there own “home”. It is suggested that you keep your dog in a kennel when left alone and unsupervised to eliminate chances of destructive behavior.
